It reads the song, not you.

The player supplies the title, artist, album and duration. Aurora asks the lyric services for a sync, and nothing else.

Word timing

Every syllable is placed from the track's own timings, so the fill follows the vocal instead of a timer.

Line states

The line being sung is bright. The lines around it step back, so the eye stays with the vocal.

One panel

It lives in the Lyrics tab beside the queue and comments. There is no second window to arrange.

The add-ons.

Extensions, themes and snippets, all optional. They install from the panel in YouTube Music, and none of them need an account.

Aurora Lyrics

The words, on the beat.

Word-level synced lyrics beside the player, with a fullscreen view, a per-track offset and an English translation of foreign lines.

Aurora Bloom

The track becomes the room.

A full-page backdrop warped from the playing artwork with Kawarp, with brightness, saturation, contrast and blur controls. Its colour also tints the player bar, sliders and switches.

Where the words come from.

Aurora asks Spicy Lyrics first, then LRCLIB. ListenBrainz resolves the Spotify id the Spicy API expects. Every sync is credited on screen.

  • ListenBrainz

    resolver

Resolves the Spotify id the Spicy API is keyed by. It receives the track metadata, not an account.

  • Spicy Lyrics API

    first choice

Community TTML, with the uploader and maker credited in the panel.

  • LRCLIB

    fallback

Line-synced lyrics from an open database, and a search the panel can run by hand.

The requests carry the song, not you.

No account. No analytics. No server.

The extension sends the song's title, artist, album and duration to the lyric services. It sends nothing about you, because there is no Aurora account or analytics service to send it to. Read the privacy policy.

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics either.

The room.

Release notes go up in Discord first. It is also where to ask about a track with no sync, and where the next add-on gets argued about.
